A Green Sandpiper was on the Ecopark, as well as a flock of twenty Chaffinches which also contained a Lesser Redpoll and there were good numbers of Redwings. The Chiffchaff was still along the Ouse Dyke and a male Goosander flew over the Deep Pit. IP.

Goosander – 1st January
This morning a female Goosander flew over the site from the river. On the green field across the river a small herd of Mute Swans was accompanied by a pair of Egyptian Geese and on the flooded Ecopark the Green Sandpiper was still present. PS.
Goosander – 11th October
This morning, during the Bird-count, there were several flocks, totalling around 300 Redwings seen around the site as well as about thirty Fieldfares. Redpoll, Siskin and Skylarks were also seen and heard passing overhead and there were still plenty of Chiffchaffs about. At about mid-day five female Goosander were seen flying downriver. PS.
Goosander – 5th July
This morning a female Goosander was seen swimming upstream on the Trent. A Shelduck was on the Slurry Lagoon.
During the Butterfly Walk fourteen species of butterfly were found, including Small, Essex and Large Skippers, Brimstone, Holly Blue and about fifteen Commas. PS.
Ruddy Shelduck – 1st December
This morning two Ruddy Shelduck and twenty Common Snipe were seen on the Ecopark pool. Two female Goosanders flew over and a skein of 120 Pink-footed Geese went to the west. Two Peregrines were seen hunting from the pylons and four Water Rail were heard calling from the reed-beds. PS.
Also two Green Sandpipers on the Ecopark and two Bearded Tits in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed. RW.
Goosander – 9th December
This morning, during the Bird Count, two female Goosanders landed on the Deep Pit. Also recorded were a Chiffchaff, Treecreeper and a lone Golden Plover. There were plenty of winter thrushes about too, with high numbers especially of Redwings and Blackbirds. A short stretch of the Ouse Dyke held seven Little Egrets and a Kingfisher. PS.
Goosander – 24th December
This morning the Slurry Lagoon carried a good variety of ducks, including Shoveler, Teal, Goldeneye and Pochard, and three Goosander flew over. Also Water Rail and Cetti’s Warblers were heard. PS.
Goosander – 5th February
This morning the Jack Snipe was found again on the Wader Scrape. The male and female Stonechats were in front of the substation and a Goosander flew over the Deep Pit. On the Slurry Lagoon there was a large gull that looked very like a Yellow-legged Gull, but it decided to fly away before it could be conclusively identified. PS.
Barn Owl – 18th January
This afternoon a Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Gravel Pits and two Buzzards were perched untidily in a birch tree across the Wader Scrape. The Black Swan was still with the Mute Swans across the river and a Goosander flew over the site. Four Siskins were seen along the entrance path and 23 Linnets were near the railway bridge. PS.
Goosander – 21st December
This morning a female Goosander flew over the site before investigating the Large Gravel Pit. The two Stonechats were still on the substation plantation. PS.
