Redshank – 11th July
This morning a passage Redshank was on one of the islands in the Slurry Lagoon. Worryingly there was no sign of the Common Tern chicks, which were all too young to fledge. Possibly a visit from a predator occurred during the night. An adult flew in with a fish and didn’t seem to know what to do with it. PS.

Early on this morning an Avocet and a Whimbrel were on the Slurry Lagoon. The Whimbrel flew off to the NE and a little later the Avocet flew to the SE, possibly to Holme Pierrepont. There were three Common Terns over the Deep Pit and these were briefly joined by four more. PS.
In the late afternoon a pair of Garganey were on the Slurry Lagoon. JMD.

This morning at least 11 Willow Warblers were singing and many more Blackcaps were in. Three Water Rails were heard and an Egyptian goose flew over the Slurry Lagoon. PS.

Shelduck – 18th April
This morning there were two Shelducks on the Wader Scrape. There were still two Wheatears on the ploughed field beyond the Wader Scrape. The Reed Warbler was still singing in the NW corner of the Deep Pit and a Common Tern was on one of the platforms in the Deep Pit. PS.
