This morning a male Stonechat was in the field by the sub-station. A Chiffchaff was seen along the Ouse Dyke and a Water Rail ran across it as well as at least two more were heard calling. JMD.

Bearded Tit – 12th November
This morning, during the Bird Count, Bearded Tits were heard calling in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed. There were also nine Goldeneyes on the Large Gravel Pit, a Peregrine chasing the ducks on the Slurry Lagoon, Redwings, Redpolls, Siskins and twenty-five Fieldfares. PS.
Avocet – 30th April
Early on this morning an Avocet and a Whimbrel were on the Slurry Lagoon. The Whimbrel flew off to the NE and a little later the Avocet flew to the SE, possibly to Holme Pierrepont. There were three Common Terns over the Deep Pit and these were briefly joined by four more. PS.
In the late afternoon a pair of Garganey were on the Slurry Lagoon. JMD.
Chiffchaff – 1st March
This morning a Chiffchaff was along the Ouse Dyke and four Stonechats were seen together in front of the sub-station. JDn.
Stonechat – 29th January
This morning the Ouse Dyke produced Green Sandpiper, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, Chiffchaff and two Little Egrets. On the rough grassland in front of the substation there was a pair of Stonechats and on the Wader Scrape there were two Snipe. PS.
Waxwing – 28th January
This afternoon at about 15.00hrs, ten Waxwings were briefly seen along the path on the NE side of the Slurry Lagoon. The Green Sandpiper and a Grey Wagtail were also seen along the Ouse Dyke. AV.
