This morning there was an Arctic Tern which flew around the Slurry Lagoon and Deep Pit before leaving, going north-east. On the river there was a Common Sandpiper and a large group of Swallows and Swifts paused to forage over the Slurry Lagoon before continuing passage north and a Cuckoo was heard briefly. PS.

Common Sandpiper – 26th September
At the lagoons this morning, still more Wigeon have arrived and there was a Common Sandpiper on the river bank. PS.
Red-crested Pochard – 21st August
This morning a juvenile Red-crested Pochard was on the Slurry Lagoon. A Water Rail was also seen along the reeds at the back of the lagoon. Later a Raven flew south across the Large Gravel Pit. PS
A male and female of Volucella zonaria, the Hornet Hoverfly, were feeding on Buddleja by the metal gates. PS
In the afternoon two Common Sandpipers were seen on the riverbank and a Hobby flew over. JMD
Common Sandpiper – 2nd July
This morning a Common Sandpiper was found on the Slurry Lagoon and three more on the river near the railway bridge. A Grass Snake was seen along Willow Walk, basking on some dead bracken hanging from the Car Auction site fence. PS.
Common Sandpiper – 24th April
This morning there was still one Common Sandpiper on the river and a Grasshopper Warbler was singing near the Willow Pond. A Wheatear was in the field beyond the Wader Scrape but the four Yellow Wagtails and Wheatear were gone from the potato field across the river. PS.
Pied Flycatcher – 12th April
This morning a lot of migrants were about and a Pied Flycatcher was found in the Boundary hedge. It later moved along the hedge to Willow Pond. There were also two Little Ringed Plovers on the Wader Scrape, two Common Terns in the Deep Pit, a Common Sandpiper on the river bank, two Yellow Wagtails on the Causeway and there were lots more warblers about including Willow, Sedge and Garden Warblers and Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs. There were a few Swallows and Sand Martins and one House Martin. Also seen were a Jay and a singing Treecreeper. PS.
Mediterranean Gull – 4th August
This afternoon there was a Garganey on the Slurry Lagoon. Also seen was a small, juvenile Water Rail and a Little Egret. A Common Sandpiper was on the Wader Scrape and in the late afternoon a juvenile Mediterranean Gull was seen on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
Common Sandpiper – 27th July
This morning a Common Sandpiper was on the Wader Scrape. There was also a Little Egret and three Teal on the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
Whimbrel – 28th July
This morning a Whimbrel was heard calling as it flew over the site, towards Holme Pierrepont. There was a Common Sandpiper feeding along the edge of one of the tern platforms, much to the annoyance of the residents. The Dragonfly Walk was a mixed success as the weather was not very co-operative. Red-eyed and Small Red-eyed Damselflies were found on the Small Gravel Pit as well as a Ruddy Darter. PS.
Black-tailed Godwit – 22nd July
This afternoon there was a Black-tailed Godwit and a Common Sandpiper on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
