This morning an immature Spoonbill flew over the site. A Grasshopper Warbler was heard in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed and a Stoat was seen on the Causeway path. JV.

Cattle Egret – 7th April
This morning two Arctic Terns were feeding over the Slurry Lagoon and stayed for most of the day. Good numbers of hirundines were seen flying through. In the afternoon a Cattle Egret flew over the site twice. MC.

Little Gull – 6th April
This morning there were five Willow Warblers singing and a Swallow was seen with four Sand Martins. There was also a report of a Scaup. PD.
Later a 1st summer Little Gull was flying over the Slurry Lagoon and Deep Pit. MC.

Whooper Swan – 25th March
This morning eight Whooper Swans landed on the Slurry Lagoon. Unfortunately the resident Mute Swans were a little put out, so the Whoopers left. JV

Mediterranean Gull – 14th March
This morning a Mediterranean Gull paid a brief visit to the Slurry Lagoon. A Raven flew along the river to the Enva site. During a brief spell of sunshine two male Toads, a male and a female Brimstone and a Peacock were seen – Spring is Springing! PS.

Marsh Harrier – 26th February
This morning the Marsh Harrier – 6T – was seen again over the Slurry Lagoon. Eventually the crows drove it away. JV.

Later, four Oystercatchers and two Chiffchaffs were seen, one singing. PS.
White-fronted Goose – 19th February
This morning a White-fronted Goose flew low to the north, over the Slurry Lagoon. Several queen Buff-tailed Bumblebees were flying and three Chiffchaffs were seen. PS.
Marsh Harrier – 15th February
This morning the wing-tagged Marsh Harrier was quartering the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed. An adult and later a juvenile Peregrine were hunting the reserve, the adult flushing a pack of 11 Snipe. In the Boundary Hedge a male Tawny Owl was calling as it was mobbed by two Jays. PS.
Starling – 9th February
This morning the Starlings were seen leaving the Deep Pit and Slurry Lagoon reed-beds in very large numbers. The wing-tagged Marsh Harrier had spent the night again too. JV.
A Great White Egret was seen as it departed the Large Gravel Pit. RJP.
Red Kite – 7th February
This morning the wing-tagged Marsh Harrier was seen again, quartering the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed. Later, a Red Kite flew low, over the site and a skein of about sixty Pink-footed Geese flew through to the SW. Birds also seen were an Egyptian Goose, three Buzzards and a Jay. PS.
In the afternoon a pair of Goosander were seen on the river and an Oystercatcher flew over the Deep Pit. IEP.
