Willow Emerald – 25th September

This morning there was still a steady passage of Hirundines, including some Sand Martins. Two Ravens were seen several times and there were three Hobbies catching dragonflies. Along the Boundary Hedge there were several dragonflies including at least seven Willow Emeralds. On the north path beside the Slurry Lagoon an unusually dark Comma was seen. PS.

Arctic Tern – 23rd April

Today – during a very wet Patchwatch – 70 species were recorded, including two Arctic Terns, a Curlew, Dunlin, Green Sandpiper, Teal, Lesser Whitethroat and Grasshopper Warbler. Also there were hundreds of Hirundines seen hawking insects over all three bodies of water. PS.

Later a Red Kite and a Swift were seen. RW.

Osprey – 5th May

This morning there were two Swifts with the hirundines feeding over the Slurry Lagoon and Deep Pit. Four Garden Warblers and five Willow Warblers were heard singing. PS.

In the late afternoon an Osprey flew over the Deep Pit, mobbed by at least twelve Common Terns. The Ecopark had one Wood Sandpiper, one Ringed Plover and a Dunlin. RW.
