Late afternoon today a Siberian Chiffchaff was found in bushes just up-stream of the railway bridge. MC.

Peregrine – 22nd December
This morning the fifty plus Lesser Redpolls were in birches at the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon. Six female Goosander flew over the Large Gravel Pit and at least one of them came in and landed. Later in the morning two Peregrines were seen taking a kill to the top of the new pylon. PS/IEP.
Caspian Gull – 21st December
This morning, at the Enva plant, a Caspian Gull, Yellow-legged Gull and a hybrid gull were seen. There were fifty Lesser Redpolls in the Slurry Lagoon birches and 150 Pink-footed Geese went through to the SW. There was also a single Raven seen, flying south. PR/MC
Goosander – 18th December
This morning a male Goosander flew upstream, over the site. Eighteen Lesser Redpolls were in a birch tree in the Slurry Lagoon reedbed near the southern end of the Causeway. PS.
In the afternoon a male and a female Bearded Tit were in the Slurry Lagoon reedbed. RW.
Bearded Tit – 5th December
This morning a male and a female Bearded Tit were seen on the Causeway, going between the Slurry Lagoon and Deep Pit. M.W./K.H.
Merlin – 3rd December
This morning there were even more Redwings and Blackbirds on the site and these attracted a Merlin which swooped down the Pylon Bank, towards the Small Gravel Pit, as it tried to catch one. Sparrowhawks were also hunting and some Redwing breast feathers were found on the path. A Pink-footed Goose was with the Greylag flock across the river and a pair of Goosander flew over the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
Goosander – 28th November
This morning a male Goosander flew SW over the Slurry Lagoon and two Treecreepers were seen on trees along the Riverside Walk. PS.
Peregrine – 22nd November
This morning there were good numbers of Wigeon on the Slurry Lagoon and Redwings feeding in the Hawthorn. In the evening a Peregrine flew over the Deep Pit and up to the top of the New Pylon. PS.
Great White Egret – 17th November
This morning there were lots of Redwings feeding on the Hawthorn berries. An Egyptian Goose was with the Greylags, across the river, and a Raven flew along the pylons. About mid-day a Great White Egret flew in to fish on the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
Goosander – 14th November
This morning, during the bird count, two Goosander flew over and a Great White Egret was seen across the river. NWG.
