Egyptian Goose – 3rd December

This morning two Egyptian Geese flew north over the site. A Barn Owl was seen flying from the box and a Lesser Redpoll was seen on the Lower Path. On the Large Gravel Pit there were fourteen Goldeneye and about 160 Pink-footed Geese flew west over the site.   PS.

In the afternoon a male Bearded Tit was seen in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed, a Peregrine was on one of the pylons and another 64 Pink-footed geese flew over.   RW.

Barn Owl – 8th October

This morning, during the bird count, a Barn Owl was seen. Also two Ravens were on the pylons, Siskin and Redpoll were about as well as one Tree Sparrow along the Lower Path. Eight Snipe were seen dropping into the Slurry Lagoon reed bed. By the Small Gravel Pit a late Garden warbler was sunning itself.    PS.

Willow Tit – 16th January

The Black Swan was with a herd of 38 Mute Swans feeding in the field across the river and upstream of the railway bridge. Several hundred Grey-lag and Canada Geese were also there. The Willow Tit was briefly heard and seen along the Lower Path, five Cetti’s Warblers were heard as well as four Water Rails.  PS.
