Nuthatch – 17th September

This morning a Nuthatch flew along the river at tree-top height. A 1st for site. Also seen were two Ravens, on the pylons, a Hobby hawking insects over the Slurry Lagoon while a Snipe dropped into the reed-bed. There was still a light passage of swallows and martins.   PS.

In the afternoon there were four Ravens present.   RW.

Pied Flycatcher – 12th April

This morning a lot of migrants were about and a Pied Flycatcher was found in the Boundary hedge. It later moved along the hedge to Willow Pond. There were also two Little Ringed Plovers on the Wader Scrape, two Common Terns in the Deep Pit, a Common Sandpiper on the river bank, two Yellow Wagtails on the Causeway and there were lots more warblers about including Willow, Sedge and Garden Warblers and Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs. There were a few Swallows and Sand Martins and one House Martin. Also seen were a Jay and a singing Treecreeper. PS.

Reed Warbler – 16th April

This morning at Netherfield Lagoons there were three Reed Warblers, three Grasshopper Warblers, five Sedge Warblers, three Lesser Whitethroats, a Whitethroat, six Common Terns, four Little Ringed Plovers, two House Martins and a Redshank.  PS.

Later on a Hobby was seen over the Slurry Lagoon.  MS.
