This morning there were four species of damselfly and Hairy Dragonflies flying on the reserve as well as several species of butterfly including Green Hairstreak, Common Blue and Dingy Skipper. At about midday six Hobbies appeared and hawked insects high above the Small Gravel Pit. PS

Osprey – 22nd May
This morning, during the Warbler Walk, an Osprey was seen low over the Slurry Lagoon and gravel pits. Nine species of warbler were listened to but there was no sign of the Grasshopper Warblers, and a Cuckoo was heard. PS.
Grass Snake – 22nd May
The female Grass Snake was again seen along the Lower Path this afternoon. There were still not many Swifts about but a few more House Martins were seen. PS.
