The Bearded Tits were found again in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed. Towards dusk a Woodcock flew out of the Deep Pit towards the Wader Scrape and the Barn Owl flew along the ditch between the Deep Pit and the Wader Scrape. RW. PS.

Barn Owl – 24th December
The Barn Owl was seen again this afternoon and the Stonechat was also about until driven into cover by the hail storm. JMD.
Stonechat – 25th November
Today there were two Stonechats on the Wader Scrape and the Barn Owl was seen by the Large Gravel Pit. JMD.
Jack Snipe – 23rd November
This morning, amongst the finches along the Slurry Lagoon north path, there were at least two Bramblings. Along the Lower Path, on willow herb growing in the Typhus Pool, there was a flock of about forty Lesser Redpoll. At the water’s edge in front of the bench on the Causeway, a Jack Snipe was flushed and the Black Swan is still in residence on the Large Gravel Pit. Also a Treecreeper was seen on the old hawthorns along Willow Walk. PS.
In the evening a Barn Owl was seen over the grassland next to the Large Gravel pit. JMD.
Spotted Flycatcher – 19th September
This afternoon the Redstart was still present by the railway bridge and has been joined by two Spotted Flycatchers. In the evening a Bittern was seen crossing the Deep Pit. A Peregrine and a Barn Owl were also seen and the Starling roost had built to about 600. RW.
Barn Owl – 28th August
At about 8.50 this evening a Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Wader Scrape. A Hobby was also seen. About 4,000 Starlings came in to roost and both Noctule and Pipistrelle were flying. RW.
Barn Owl – 20th February
This evening a Barn Owl was seen hunting over the Wader Scrape field, close to the freshly erected Barn Owl box. Let’s hope it noticed it. A Shelduck was briefly on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
Barn Owl – 13th December
This evening a Barn Owl was seen hunting near the Wader Scrape and about 600 Starlings came in to roost in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed. RW.
Golden Plover – 8th October
This evening, at about 7.30, a Barn Owl was seen, hunting along the Causeway. Later a Tawny Owl was also seen and 21 golden Plover came in to the Slurry Lagoon. Noctule and Pipistrelle were also flying overhead and detected on a bat box. RW.
Black Redstart – 12th April
This morning a female/1st summer male Black Redstart was seen on the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon. Three Wheatears were on the Severn Trent fields. Later there was a Willow Warbler singing in the Deep Pit and seven Little Ringed Plover on the Wader Scrape. RW.
In the afternoon there were two female/1st summer male Black Redstarts on the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon and five Sand Martins and a Swallow passed through. PS.
In the early evening a Curlew flew through, a Green Sandpiper was on a riverside flood and the Barn Owl was hunting over the reserve. RW.
