Today a Jack Snipe was seen in the Dragonfly Pool and, at about 14.50hrs, a Barn Owl was seen in the hedge beside the Large Gravel Pit. RW.

Raven – 4th April
This morning two Ravens were seen on one of the pylons. Two Blackcaps, a male and a female, were along the Ouse Dyke. A Swallow and a Peregrine were also seen. JMD.
In the afternoon three Little Gulls flew through. Later on a Barn Owl was seen hunting, a Snipe was seen and about 300 Sand Martins came in to roost in the reed bed. RW.
Barn Owl – 7th March
This afternoon a Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Gravel Pits. Also a large Fox was seen on the Causeway. SC.
Shelduck – 29th February
This evening two Shelduck settled on the Deep Pit, where an Oystercatcher was resting on a tern platform. A murmuration of about 1,000 Starlings attracted a Peregrine and the Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Gravel Pits and Deep Pit. PS.
Barn Owl – 22nd February
This afternoon, just before dusk, two Barn Owls were quartering the grassland beside the Large Gravel Pit. PS.
Barn Owl – 18th February
Today a Chiffchaff and a female Stonechat were seen. At dusk two Barn Owls were seen hunting around the Gravel Pits. RW.
Bearded Tit – 11th February
The two Bearded Tits were heard again this afternoon in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed. Later on the Barn Owl was also seen. RW.
Raven – 21st January
This afternoon two Ravens spent some time on the new pylon (by the substation). There were two Chiffchaffs along the Ouse Dyke and the Barn Owl was seen again. RW.
Barn Owl – 18th January
This afternoon a Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Gravel Pits and two Buzzards were perched untidily in a birch tree across the Wader Scrape. The Black Swan was still with the Mute Swans across the river and a Goosander flew over the site. Four Siskins were seen along the entrance path and 23 Linnets were near the railway bridge. PS.
Brambling – 17th January
This morning a Brambling was seen amongst a flock of about 50 Chaffinches along the Ouse Dyke. Two Shelduck were on the Slurry Lagoon and the Black Swan was still with the Mute Swans and geese across the river. Two skeins of Pink-feet flew over and a single bird was with the Grey-lag flock. PS.
In the afternoon a Little Gull was briefly on the Slurry Lagoon and the Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Gravel Pits. NM.
