At mid-day today a Treecreeper and a Chiffchaff were seen along the Ouse Dyke. JMD.

Blackcap – 8th January
At about mid-day a male Blackcap was seen along the Ouse Dyke. A Water Rail was also seen in the Ouse Dyke. On the Slurry Lagoon a count of over 400 Teal was made and on the Large Gravel Pit were 200 Wigeon. PS.
Chiffchaff – 29th December
A Chiffchaff was seen feeding along the Ouse Dyke today. JMD.
Stonechat – 27th November
This morning a pair of Stonechats was seen on the Wader Scrape. Five Little Egrets were along the Ouse Dyke and a Snipe was seen over the Slurry Lagoon reedbed. PS.
Short-eared Owl – 13th November
This morning, during the bird count, a Short-eared Owl was seen over the Deep Pit. It was mobbed by three crows which forced it to fly very high and then off to the south. There were plenty of winter thrushes and ducks about, with four Goldeneye on the Large Gravel Pit and three Little Egrets on the Ouse Dyke. Also several Water Rails and Cetti’s Warblers were heard. Yellow-browed Warbler – 3rd October
At mid-day today a Yellow-browed Warbler was seen with a tit flock along the Ouse Dyke. RW.
Raven – 4th April
This morning two Ravens were seen on one of the pylons. Two Blackcaps, a male and a female, were along the Ouse Dyke. A Swallow and a Peregrine were also seen. JMD.
In the afternoon three Little Gulls flew through. Later on a Barn Owl was seen hunting, a Snipe was seen and about 300 Sand Martins came in to roost in the reed bed. RW.
Raven – 21st January
This afternoon two Ravens spent some time on the new pylon (by the substation). There were two Chiffchaffs along the Ouse Dyke and the Barn Owl was seen again. RW.
Brambling – 17th January
This morning a Brambling was seen amongst a flock of about 50 Chaffinches along the Ouse Dyke. Two Shelduck were on the Slurry Lagoon and the Black Swan was still with the Mute Swans and geese across the river. Two skeins of Pink-feet flew over and a single bird was with the Grey-lag flock. PS.
In the afternoon a Little Gull was briefly on the Slurry Lagoon and the Barn Owl was seen hunting around the Gravel Pits. NM.
Bearded Tit – 6th January
There were two Bearded Tits on the Slurry Lagoon in the Causeway reed beds this afternoon. A Bittern flew into the Deep Pit and about 600 Starlings came in to roost in the reeds. 170 Pink-footed Geese flew over and both Pipistrelle and Noctule were feeding along the Ouse Dyke. RW.
