This afternoon two Whooper Swans were seen at the lagoons. There was a murmuration of about 10,000 Starlings and a Bearded Tit was heard at the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon. RW.

Whooper Swan – 16th November
This morning a small flock of about 20 Fieldfares flew over the reserve, but the bushes everywhere had Redwings in them, perhaps 200 or more. Five Egyptian Geese flew over from the flooded fields and three Snipe. Towards mid-day 12 Whooper Swans flew over to the NE. PS.

The five Whooper Swans were seen again this evening as they came in to the Large Gravel Pit with thousands of geese. JMD.
Whooper Swan – 18th November
This morning two adult and three juvenile Whooper Swans were on the Severn/Trent field, gleaning spilt sweet-corn. There was also a Dunlin and a female Pintail on the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
Barnacle Goose – 28th October
This morning the Ruff was still present on the Slurry Lagoon but was flushed by a Fox. There were also 25 Wigeon. On the Large Gravel Pit there were two Whooper Swans and a Barnacle Goose with about thirty Mute Swans. The two Peregrines were on the pylons and a Yellowhammer and Chiffchaff were also recorded. About 100 Pink-footed Geese flew over to the west. PS.

Today, on the Slurry Lagoon, there was a Whooper Swan, a Ruff and four Goldeneye. A Pintail was on the Large Gravel Pit and a Peregrine was on the pylon. RW.
Whooper Swan – 25th February
This morning a herd of between 30 and 35 Whooper Swans flew WNW over the lagoons. Three Cetti’s Warblers and three Water Rails were heard from the Causeway. PS.
Whooper Swan – 20th January
This morning eleven Whooper Swans flew over the Large Gravel Pit and Deep Pit. Also a Raven was heard calling and then seen flying over the site. SC.
Whooper Swan – 22nd March
This morning, at about 07.15, 120 Whooper Swans flew west over the site. Later a Whooper Swan was seen in the Deep Pit and was still there at 12.00. There were about 20 Chiffchaffs on the site, some singing and others just feeding. PS>

This afternoon ten Whooper Swans flew over the reserve. They circled but decided not to land. There was a male and two female Stonechats near the new substation and the Green Sandpiper and a Chiffchaff were along the Ouse Dyke. RW.
