Late this afternoon a Whooper Swan was seen on the Slurry Lagoon. JMD.

Today four Whooper Swans joined the Mute Swan herd feeding in the oil-seed rape field across the river. In fields near the weir the flock of Tree Sparrows was found with two Yellow Hammers and two Bramblings. JMD.
Late this morning three Whooper Swans landed on the Slurry Lagoon. Unfortunately the resident family of Mute Swans took exception and chased them away in a few minutes. RW.
Six Whooper Swans flew north-east over the reserve this morning. There were two Little Egrets in the willow on the Large Gravel Pit and three Shelduck were on the Slurry Lagoon. A Water Rail was seen briefly as it flew from cover to cover in the Deep Pit. AE. PS.
During the bird count this morning a Whooper Swan landed briefly on the Slurry Lagoon. A late Willow Warbler was also recorded and two Cetti’s Warblers were singing. PS.
