This afternoon at least one Bearded Tit was in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed and a Marsh Harrier was seen. Two Ruddy Shelduck were on the Ecopark pools as well as 130 Teal and a Green Sandpiper, and a Chiffchaff was along the Ouse Dyke. RW.

Woodcock – 4th December
This evening three Woodcock were seen flying to feeding areas at dusk. Four Green Sandpipers are on the Ecopool along with 134 Teal. The Bearded Tits are still in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed but were heard only. RW, JMD.
Starlings – 30th October
This evening about 4,000 Starlings came in to the roost and there is still at least one Bearded Tit. On the EcoPark there were three Green Sandpipers, 54 Teal and a Goldeneye. RW.
Red-breasted Merganser – 9th April
This morning, amongst the Shovelers, Teal, Tufted Duck and Gadwall on the Slurry Lagoon were a superb pair of Red-breasted Mergansers. More Sedge Warblers had come in overnight and were singing in the reed beds and a Water Rail was also calling. PS.
Along the Ouse Dyke a Nuthatch was found RW and earlier a Barn Owl was seen LD/PD.
In the afternoon, on the Bird Walk, the Mergansers were still present and a Barn Owl was seen along the Lower Path. Also seen was a Roe Deer that jumped the Slurry Lagoon fence and crossed the path in front of us. PS.
In the late afternoon a Firecrest was found, singing, along the Ouse Dyke. RW.
Goosander – 24th December
This morning the Slurry Lagoon carried a good variety of ducks, including Shoveler, Teal, Goldeneye and Pochard, and three Goosander flew over. Also Water Rail and Cetti’s Warblers were heard. PS.
Blackcap – 8th January
At about mid-day a male Blackcap was seen along the Ouse Dyke. A Water Rail was also seen in the Ouse Dyke. On the Slurry Lagoon a count of over 400 Teal was made and on the Large Gravel Pit were 200 Wigeon. PS.
Willow Tit – 9th September
Early this afternoon a Willow Tit was seen along the Lower Path. On the Slurry Lagoon there was a Dunlin and a Snipe, 83 Teal and 54 Shoveler. A Hobby was seen and 25 Wigeon were on the Large Gravel Pit. RW.
Shelduck – 19th January
A very cold day at the lagoons. The Teal on the Slurry Lagoon were all out, standing on the ice. They were joined briefly at midday by a pair of Shelduck. Three Cetti’s Warblers were heard as well as about seven Water Rail. PS.
Common Sandpiper – 27th July
This morning a Common Sandpiper was on the Wader Scrape. There was also a Little Egret and three Teal on the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
