This morning a male Goosander circled the site and two Ravens were about most of the morning. The Bearded Reedlings were heard, but not seen, from the Causeway. PS.

Woodcock – 4th December
This evening three Woodcock were seen flying to feeding areas at dusk. Four Green Sandpipers are on the Ecopool along with 134 Teal. The Bearded Tits are still in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed but were heard only. RW, JMD.
Raven – 4th December
At about midday a Raven flew high over the site from the south, calling all the way. There were at least eight Water Rail heard and three Cetti’s Warblers. Two male Great-spotted Woodpeckers were seen displaying to, and chasing, each other. PS.
Woodcock – 4th December
As dusk turned into dark a Woodcock flew along the Deep Pit bank and onto the Causeway, landing a few yards away in the gloom. Hundreds of Jackdaws and Rooks were feeding during the afternoon on the sweetcorn stubbles and towards dusk they were trailing across the sky on their way to roost. PS.
Caspian Gull – 4th December
A Caspian Gull was spotted amongst the Great Black-backs and Herring Gulls on the Slurry Lagoon this evening. Three Cetti’s Warblers were heard and five Water Rail. There were also good numbers of thrushes, especially Redwings and Blackbirds. PS.
