This morning a Stonechat was seen between the Wader Scrape and the Ouse Dyke banks. A Jay flew by as well as a Kingfisher. On the Slurry Lagoon there was a Shelduck, with a single Pochard on the Deep Pit and a Goldeneye on the Large Gravel Pit. PS

Stonechat – 22nd November
Goosander – 5th July
This morning a female Goosander was seen swimming upstream on the Trent. A Shelduck was on the Slurry Lagoon.
During the Butterfly Walk fourteen species of butterfly were found, including Small, Essex and Large Skippers, Brimstone, Holly Blue and about fifteen Commas. PS.
Redstart – 10th May
Today a female Redstart was seen on the fence posts along the Pylon Path. There was also a pair of Shelduck on the Slurry Lagoon. Paul.
Cuckoo – 6th May
This morning a Cuckoo called from the Ash trees along the railway embankment. Two Shelduck were across the river on the flooded field and two Oystercatchers and four Lapwings were on the Wader Scrape. On the Deep Pit bank, opposite the junction box, up to five Green Hairstreaks were flying and by the Gravel Pits a teneral male Hairy Dragonfly was found. PS.
Merlin – 15th April
This morning a Merlin was seen briefly as it flew over the site. Also seen were three Oystercatchers, two Shelduck, two Common Terns and three Fieldfares. PS.
Shelduck – 1st April
There were at least five Chiffchaffs singing this morning. Across the river, on the flooded field beyond the bridge, were two Shelducks and two Oystercatchers. In the Slurry Lagoon reed bed were two Water Rails and two Cetti’s Warblers were in the Deep Pit. PS.
Garden Warbler – 23rd April
This morning there were two Grasshopper Warblers near the Large Gravel Pit. Two Garden Warblers were singing, the best one near the railway end of the Causeway. A pair of Shelduck spent some time on the Slurry Lagoon and two House Martins were seen near the Railway Bridge. PS.
Grasshopper Warbler – 21st April
This morning a Grasshopper Warbler was reeling beside the Large Gravel Pit. Three Common Terns were over the Deep Pit and a Peregrine and a Shelduck flew through. PS.
Wigeon – 9th August
This morning a Wigeon and a juvenile Shelduck were on the Slurry Lagoon. In the afternoon a Hobby was seen over the Gravel Pits. PS.
Whinchat – 2nd May
This morning there was a report of a Whinchat on the Deep Pit fence posts below the power lines. Two Grasshopper Warblers were reeling, one by the Hump and the other by Willow Pond. Some Swifts were passing through with some House Martins and a Shelduck flew through upriver. PS.
