This morning, at about 10.30, there were five Mediterranean Gulls on the Slurry Lagoon. DG/PG. There were lots of Black-headed Gulls going through on passage as well. On the Lower Path there were Brimstones, Commas, Small Tortoiseshells and Peacocks. PS.

Mediterranean Gull – 4th August
This afternoon there was a Garganey on the Slurry Lagoon. Also seen was a small, juvenile Water Rail and a Little Egret. A Common Sandpiper was on the Wader Scrape and in the late afternoon a juvenile Mediterranean Gull was seen on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
Mediterranean Gull – 2nd April
An adult Mediterranean Gull was with a cluster of Black-headed Gulls on the Deep Pit late evening before they all flew off in the direction of Hoveringham. JMD.
Mediterranean Gull – 3rd November
The gull roost contained a first winter Mediterranean Gull and an adult Yellow-legged Gull this afternoon. Several Water Rails were heard or seen across the site, as were hunting Sparrowhawks. One Sparrowhawk was seen to fly into the Starling roost causing them to move across the Slurry Lagoon to another reed bed. As the light failed a massive flock of Grey-lag Geese rose unseen from the harvested maize field, where they had been feeding, to move to the Large Gravel Pit, to roost. The noise they made cackling and screeching was very impressive. RW, PS.
Mediterranean Gull – 31st August
This afternoon, on the Slurry Lagoon there was a juvenile/1st winter Mediterranean Gull, with a white colour ring. Also present were two Greenshank, two juvenile Little Ringed Plover, two Dunlin and two Water Rail. There were either one or two Cetti’s Warblers present in the Deep Pit and a Hobby flew over. Overhead there were nine Common Buzzards flying together. RW.
Mediterranean Gull – 30th June
An adult Med Gull was preening for some time on the Slurry Lagoon late afternoon. Also present was a Black-tailed Godwit and a Green Sandpiper plus an adult Little Ringed Plover. The Gadwall reported the other day with eleven ducklings has increased her brood to an incredible fourteen! JMD.
Caspian Gull – 14th August
This afternoon an adult Caspian Gull, juvenile Mediterranean Gull, Greenshank, Black-tailed Godwit, two Curlews and a Hobby were seen on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
Mediterranean Gull – 10th August
The juvenile Mediterranean Gull was on the Slurry Lagoon again this afternoon, along with a Snipe and juvenile Wigeon. Two Hobbies and a Buzzard were also seen. JMD. PS.
Black-tailed Godwit – 2nd August
There were three Black-tailed Godwits, five Dunlin, five Yellow-legged Gulls and a Caspian Gull on the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon. Both Roesel’s Bush Crickets and Long-winged Coneheads were found and a Willow Tit was heard along the Lower Path. PS.
In the evening a juvenile Mediterranean Gull, three Green Sandpipers, a Snipe and a Water Rail were present on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
Wood Sandpiper – 14th July
A Wood Sandpiper was seen briefly this afternoon on the Slurry Lagoon, a Redshank and a Yellow-legged Gull were also present. At the north end of the Slurry Lagoon there was an Essex Skipper along with three male and one female Long-winged Coneheads.
Later in the afternoon an adult Mediterranean Gull, three juvenile Little Ringed Plovers and two Shoveler visited the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
