This morning two Ravens were seen flying high over the site. One was doing barrel rolls and back flips whilst the other came down to deal with a food item on the ground. A Peregrine was also seen flying across the Large Gravel Pit, carrying prey. PS.

Hobby – 2nd May
This evening there were three Hobbies hunting insects over the Large Gravel Pit. JMD.
Red Kite – 28th April
Today, at about 12.30, a Red Kite was seen flying over the reserve. TL.
Earlier a Grasshopper Warbler was reeling beside the Large Gravel Pit and some more Garden Warblers had arrived. On the Slurry Lagoon was a flock of 97 Tufted Duck, probably mostly passage birds. PS.
Garden Warbler – 23rd April
This morning there were two Grasshopper Warblers near the Large Gravel Pit. Two Garden Warblers were singing, the best one near the railway end of the Causeway. A pair of Shelduck spent some time on the Slurry Lagoon and two House Martins were seen near the Railway Bridge. PS.
Grasshopper Warbler – 21st April
This morning a Grasshopper Warbler was reeling beside the Large Gravel Pit. Three Common Terns were over the Deep Pit and a Peregrine and a Shelduck flew through. PS.
Green Sandpiper – 12th February
This morning, during the bird count, the Green Sandpiper was seen in the Ouse Dyke again. There were also two Grey Wagtails and a Kingfisher. Well over 200 Wigeon were on the Large Gravel Pit. PS.
Lesser Redpoll – 24th January
This morning there were ten Lesser Redpoll on birch trees at the railway end of the Deep Pit. On the Large Gravel Pit twelve Goldeneye were counted. PS.
Whooper Swan – 20th January
This morning eleven Whooper Swans flew over the Large Gravel Pit and Deep Pit. Also a Raven was heard calling and then seen flying over the site. SC.
Blackcap – 8th January
At about mid-day a male Blackcap was seen along the Ouse Dyke. A Water Rail was also seen in the Ouse Dyke. On the Slurry Lagoon a count of over 400 Teal was made and on the Large Gravel Pit were 200 Wigeon. PS.
Woodcock – 26th December
A Woodcock flew through the Deep Pit bushes, chased by two Magpies, well before dusk, and a Black Swan was on the Deep Pit before being chased off by resident Mutes and relocating on the Large Gravel Pit. JMD.
