At last a Cuckoo has arrived on site. He called from the willows around the gravel pits and then found the posts around the Deep Pit. There were also four Yellow Wagtails fifteen Common Terns and a House Martin. RW. JMD. PS.

Common Sandpiper – 19th April
This afternoon a small Calidrid wader, probably a Dunlin, flew around the Slurry Lagoon several times before flying off to the north-east. There was a Common Sandpiper on the river bank and towards evening, during a Hirundine raptor alert, a House Martin was seen high above the Swallows. PS. JMD.
Lesser Whitethroat – 9th April
A Lesser Whitethroat was heard and seen near the bench half-way down the North-East side of the Slurry Lagoon late this afternoon and four House Martins were also seen. PB.
Ruff – 29th August
There was plenty of movement today with about 120 House Martins through in the morning along with two Common Terns and three Swifts and two more Wigeon arrived with several Gadwall. PS.
A juvenile Ruff was seen on the Slurry Lagoon today and later a Hobby and a Peregrine were seen. RW.
Peregrine Falcon – 19th April
This morning a Peregrine Falcon flew over and perched on the nearby electricity pylon for a few minutes before moving to the next pylon to the north-east. A Common Sandpiper flew round the Slurry Lagoon and a Little Ringed Plover was displaying over the Slurry.
In the early afternoon one Common Tern appeared on the newly recommissioned Tern Platforms. One Swift and two House Martins were seen and a Redstart was heard alarm calling. A Tawny Owl was observed in the willow tree. RW.
Later two Avocets settled on the Slurry Lagoon and a male Marsh Harrier flew through. PS. RW.
Black-tailed Godwit – 19th September
Went down the Lagoons today and had a single Black tailed Godwit, 3 Common Snipe, 2 Water Rail (including one nearly fully grown juv) 3 Common Buzzard, 1 Yellow legged Gull, 3 House Martin, 2 Sparrowhawk, 3 Reed Warbler, 1 Willow Warbler and a single Jay.DM.
