This morning a Sand Martin flew south over the site. There were more than twenty Chiffchaffs and two male Peregrines had an altercation over the Slurry Lagoon. Two Peacock butterflies were also seen. PS.

Marsh Harrier – 8th March
During the Birdcount this morning the female Marsh Harrier was seen over the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed, where she flushed sixteen Snipe. There were two Green Sandpipers on the Ecopark flood, three Chiffchaffs were singing around the site and a Red-legged Partridge was near the Causeway. PS.
Blackcap – 29th January
Two Green Sandpipers are still on the Ecopark and two Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap were seen along the Ouse Dyke. JDn.
Chiffchaff – 21st January
Today two Chiffchaffs were seen along the Ouse Dyke. Also a Treecreeper was seen and a Green Sandpiper. Three Snipe were on the reserve and a Peregrine was seen. PS.
Marsh Harrier – 18th January
This afternoon at least one Bearded Tit was in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed and a Marsh Harrier was seen. Two Ruddy Shelduck were on the Ecopark pools as well as 130 Teal and a Green Sandpiper, and a Chiffchaff was along the Ouse Dyke. RW.
Bearded Tit – 29th November
This afternoon a male and a female Bearded Tit were in the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed. A Green Sandpiper and two Chiffchaffs were also seen. RW.
Barn Owl – 24th November
This morning a Barn Owl was seen hunting along the Boundary Hedge. Two Egyptian Geese flew over to the flooded field across the river. The seed crop on the Wader Scrape had good numbers of Reed Buntings and Linnets feeding in it, a Brambling was heard near the bird table and a Chiffchaff was seen along the Ouse Dyke. PS.
Fieldfare – 21st October
This morning there were three small flocks of Fieldfares seen flying over the site as well as one flock of four Redwings and still some Chiffchaffs were calling from the bushes. PS.
Late afternoon four Bearded Tits were in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed beside the Causeway. About 1,200 Starlings came in to roost and 100 Pink-footed Geese flew over to south-east at about 6.15 pm. RW.
Hobby – 8th September
This morning, during the Birdcount, two Yellow Wagtails and good numbers of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps were recorded. A Sedge Warbler and a Reed Warbler were in the Slurry Lagoon reed bed and a Hobby was hawking dragonflies over the Deep Pit. PS.
Arctic Tern – 14th April
During this morning’s Bird Count, a lone Arctic Tern flew through and a Little Gull flew through with a Black-headed Gull flock. A Whitethroat was singing near the river and 33 Blackcaps, 19 Chiffchaffs, 16 Willow Warblers and 2 Sedge Warblers were heard singing. PS.
