This morning a Snipe and a Black-tailed Godwit were on the Slurry Lagoon. A Raven flew over the site, along the Lower Path, towards the river. PS.
In the afternoon the Whinchat was found in the same area, near the substation, as it was yesterday. MC.
This afternoon a juvenile Whinchat was found beside the sub-station. There were two Ringed Plovers on the Slurry Lagoon and a pair of Ravens at the Enva site. MC.
This morning there was a steady passage of Swallows over the site. There were still Reed and Sedge Warblers in front of the Causeway Bench, and some Water Rails. Twelve Egyptian Geese with one Ruddy Shelduck were loafing on the Slurry Lagoon and a Fox put in a brief appearance, as well as a Kingfisher. Later six Buzzards were sharing a thermal and a Red Kite passed through. PS.
In the early afternoon a Hobby was seen over the Large Gravel Pit, hawking dragonflies. IEP.
In the late afternoon at least three Willow Emeralds were on the Lower Path, by the stepping stones. JDn.
This morning a juvenile Little Ringed Plover was on the mud in front of the Slurry Lagoon reeds. Amongst the Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the Slurry Lagoon was one Yellow-legged Gull. PS.
Very quiet on the Slurry Lagoon today. The two Black-tailed Godwits are still in residence and a Snipe was seen flying around the Slurry Lagoon. MC.
This afternoon a Spotted Flycatcher was seen close to the bird table. A Clouded Yellow was also seen flying around the Causeway bench before heading into the Deep Pit. MC.
This morning the female Marsh Harrier was still in residence, and was seen several times quartering the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed. Also on the Slurry Lagoon were an Egyptian Goose, two Black-tailed Godwits and a Green Sandpiper. Some Swallows passed through on passage and about twenty House Martins were feeding above the Causeway. PS.
This morning the female Marsh Harrier was still on the reserve and was seen quartering the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed. A Great White Egret was on the Slurry Lagoon with a Little Egret. There were small flocks of warblers that included Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps and Lesser Whitethroats. PS.
This morning the Peregrine was on the new pylon. One Black-tailed Godwit was on the Slurry Lagoon with about forty Lapwings and a Water Rail skipped across in front of the bench. A flock of fourteen Whimbrel flew over the site to the south-west and a cream-top Marsh Harrier flushed all of the gulls as it quartered the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed before dropping into the reeds, where it stayed. A Green Sandpiper and a Redshank were on the Ecopark, the Redshank later visiting the Slurry Lagoon. Sedge and Willow Warblers were seen and heard along with Whitethroat, young Blackcaps and plenty of Chiffchaffs. IEP.
There was a flock of eleven Redshank on the Slurry Lagoon this morning, one of the largest numbers seen on the reserve. MC.
