This evening 3,500 Starlings came into the Slurry Lagoon reed bed to roost. One Peregrine was also seen. RW.

Barnacle Goose – 28th October
This morning the Ruff was still present on the Slurry Lagoon but was flushed by a Fox. There were also 25 Wigeon. On the Large Gravel Pit there were two Whooper Swans and a Barnacle Goose with about thirty Mute Swans. The two Peregrines were on the pylons and a Yellowhammer and Chiffchaff were also recorded. About 100 Pink-footed Geese flew over to the west. PS.
Ruff – 25th October
Later on this afternoon there were 1,500 Starlings coming in to roost. There was one Ruff, 34 Lapwing and six Snipe on the Slurry Lagoon.28 Fieldfare flew over, plus eight Redpoll and the two Peregrine were seen. RW.
Starling – 15th October
1,800 Starlings roosted in the Slurry Lagoon reed beds this evening. Two Peregrines were seen and three House Martins. RW.
Bittern – 5th October
This afternoon the Slurry Lagoon held a Bittern, seven Bearded Tits, five Water Rail, one Jack Snipe, nine Common Snipe, fourteen Lapwings and around 250 Starlings. RW.
Bearded Tit – 1st October
Late this morning, fourteen Bearded Tits were seen to arrive at the Slurry Lagoon reed beds. RW.
Peregrine – 30th September
This morning the Great White Egret was still on the Slurry Lagoon, and two Egyptian Geese were amongst the vast flock of Greylags and Canadas. A Peregrine flew in from the south over the Deep Pit and was set upon by two more Peregrines in a spectacular aerial battle. All three birds eventually disappearing towards the north-east. PS.
Great White Egret – 29th September
The Great White Egret was again on the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon. Also there were over forty Shoveler. RW.
Pintail – 20th September
A Pintail was seen on the Slurry Lagoon today. RW.
Great White Egret – 16th September
The Great White Egret was still on the Slurry Lagoon this morning. A light passage of Swallows was noticed and some Sand Martins were near the railway bridge. These were attacked by a Hobby, which appeared to have caught something. Later the same or another Hobby was seen, again attacking the Sand Martins, over the Deep Pit. PS.
