A Hobby caused panic among the Swallows congregating on the wires above the Railway Bridge and seven Yellow Wagtails were working the paths surrounding the Deep Pit.

Peregrine, Hobby – 26th July
A Green Sandpiper and Redshank were seen amongst the Black-headed Gulls and Lapwings on the Slurry Lagoon. All of the birds were flushed, first by a Hobby and then by a Peregrine. The Common Sandpiper was still finding food on the Tern Platforms.
Little Ringed Plover – 16th July
A L.R.P. present on the Slurry Lagoon late afternoon was chased around by the Common Terns but it did eventually settle down to feed. Also mid p.m. a Hobby and at least two reeling Grasshopper Warblers.
A surprise find was a Marbled White butterfly feeding along the Causeway.
Pyramidal Orchids – 8th July
Another 21 Pyramidal Orchids were found on the north facing slope of the Deep Pit. A Hobby was the cause of a disturbance amongst the Swallows by the Railway Bridge. At least three Grasshopper Warblers were reeling around the Deep Pit. An Essex Skipper was found on the western end of the Slurry Lagoon.

Little Ringed Plover – 7th July

A Hobby stirred up the Swallows by the Railway Bridge just before a downpour forced us to take shelter under the bridge. The downpour brought down a Common Sandpiper in the Deep Pit and a Little Ringed Plover on the Slurry near ‘The Beach’. A Grasshopper Warbler was reeling in the Slurry reed bed.
Red Kite – 29th June
A Red Kite was seen flying over the reserve early this afternoon. A Hobby was also present. On the Slurry Lagoon there was an adult and a juvenile Little Ringed Plovers.
