A juvenile Marsh Harrier was on the Slurry Lagoon this morning, taking a drink at the water’s edge before flying back to drop into the reeds. Two Hobbies were also seen, one carrying prey. PS.

Water Rail – 26th July
This afternoon, on the Slurry Lagoon, a Water Rail with two chicks was seen at the edge of the reed bed. There were also three Gadwall broods and a brood of Mallards. RW, JMD.
Greenshank – 26th July
This afternoon on the Slurry Lagoon there was a Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper and a probable Caspian Gull. Most of the terns had gone with only one present on one of the breeding platforms for part of the afternoon. RW, PS.
Peregrine, Hobby – 26th July
A Green Sandpiper and Redshank were seen amongst the Black-headed Gulls and Lapwings on the Slurry Lagoon. All of the birds were flushed, first by a Hobby and then by a Peregrine. The Common Sandpiper was still finding food on the Tern Platforms.
