This morning there were five Wigeon on the Slurry Lagoon. Up to 36 Shoveler were also there and about forty Swallows passed to the south in small family groups. A Water Rail dashed across the gap in front of the Causeway benches and two others were heard. There were still two Common Terns on the Deep Pit and large flocks of warblers, mostly Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs, were about. PS.

Water Rail – 3rd September
Dunlin – 3rd September
This afternoon a Dunlin was seen on the Slurry Lagoon. JDn.
Towards evening a splendid male Marsh Harrier flew in and dropped into the Slurry Lagoon reed-bed to roost. EC.
Greenshank – 3rd September
Today there was a Greenshank and a Green Sandpiper on the Slurry Lagoon, along with four Water Rail and six Common Snipe. A Hobby and two Peregrines were seen as well as nine Wigeon and three Yellow Wagtails. RW.
Marsh Harrier – 3rd September
This afternoon a juvenile or female Marsh Harrier flew across the site, scattering gulls and ducks. There were still several warblers about and some Reed Warblers were still feeding young. A Willow Tit was heard from the Lower Path and a Hobby was seen hawking dragonflies. RW. PS.
