The Great White Egret was again on the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon. Also there were over forty Shoveler. RW.

Goosander – 24th December

This morning the Slurry Lagoon carried a good variety of ducks, including Shoveler, Teal, Goldeneye and Pochard, and three Goosander flew over. Also Water Rail and Cetti’s Warblers were heard. PS.

Pintail – 27th June

This morning the female Pintail was still on the Slurry Lagoon as were the Shoveler pair and a Little Egret. There were also broods of Mallard and Gadwall. The first fledged Black-headed Gulls had also flown across from the Deep Pit. PS.

Shoveler – 22nd June

Today the first Shoveler, a male and a female, arrived back on the Slurry Lagoon. There were also five Little Grebes and four Oystercatchers flew over. SC.

Stonechat – 5th March

This morning a male Stonechat was on the Wader Scrape and sixty-seven Shoveler were on the Slurry Lagoon. Three Cetti’s Warblers were singing and Water Rails were heard in the reed beds. PS.

Jack Snipe – 3rd February

This morning a Jack Snipe was seen on the water’s edge on the Wader Scrape. There were also a male and a female Stonechat. Three Little Egrets were on the Ouse Dyke and the Slurry Lagoon had three Cetti’s Warblers, two Water Rail and 36 Shoveler. PS.

Pintail – 1st October

Today there were five Pintail on the Large Gravel Pit with 260 Wigeon and there were 155 Shoveler on the Slurry Lagoon. 23 Redpoll were also seen. RW.

Willow Tit – 9th September

Early this afternoon a Willow Tit was seen along the Lower Path. On the Slurry Lagoon there was a Dunlin and a Snipe, 83 Teal and 54 Shoveler. A Hobby was seen and 25 Wigeon were on the Large Gravel Pit. RW.

Shelduck – 11th January

There was a Shelduck on the Slurry Lagoon amongst the Shoveler and Teal this afternoon. PS.

Pintail – 16th September

This morning there was a female Pintail and a female Golden-eye on the Slurry Lagoon, as well as three Red-crested Pochards and good numbers of Gadwall, Shoveler and Teal. There were about 80 Wigeon on the Large Gravel Pit and Swallows, House Martins, Meadow Pipits and Yellow Wagtails were passing through. On the Lower Path a Muntjac was seen. In the afternoon a swarm of Migrant Hawkers was seen along the Lower Path. PS.
