This morning, during the Bird Count, a Purple Heron was seen flying over the site. It later appeared at Langford Lowfields. Also seen was a Sandwich Tern that spent a few minutes over the Common Tern rafts before continuing its journey north. A Hobby was seen over the Deep Pit and the Grasshopper Warbler was still singing on the Ecopark and there were good numbers seen of most of the other warbler species. Some dragonfly species were also seen, including several Hairy Dragonflies. PS.

Sandwich Tern – 17th August
This morning the male, eclipse Garganey was on the Slurry Lagoon again. Three Egyptian Geese flew through and a Raven ‘cronked’ as it flew across the river. Later in the morning a Sandwich Tern called as it flew NE over the site. PS.

This evening a Sandwich Tern was seen following the river upstream, flying high over the railway bridge. MC.
Sandwich Tern – 23rd August
This morning a Sandwich Tern was briefly on the Slurry Lagoon before flying off to follow the river north. The Garganey was still present on the Slurry Lagoon. JF.
Sandwich Tern – 22nd April
This morning a Sandwich Tern flew down-river, past the Deep Pit, where three Common Terns were displaying. A Kingfisher was on the river and a Treecreeper was seen hopping about on the path, picking up food items. The Grasshopper Warbler was reeling on the Deep Pit bank, overlooking the river and a Bittern was seen, flying between reed beds on the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
