This morning two Common Cranes were seen drifting high over the Lagoons to the north. As the morning warmed up a total of 71 butterflies of ten species were seen, including 27 Green Hairstreaks. PS.

Early this afternoon there were two Whinchats at the back of the Wader Scrape. In the field beyond were three Yellow Wagtails and a Wheatear. RW.
Later on the Whinchats and Wheatear were still present. Along the Deep Pit bank under the pylons two Garden Warblers were singing and by the railway bridge ten Swifts were hawking insects. At the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon there was a female Redstart. PS.
Today was Patchwatch Day and so, of course, it rained all morning. In the late morning a Tawny Owl was seen in the Deep Pit and a Hobby flew along the railway lines. A final total of sixty-three species was seen. PS.
Early this afternoon a Grey Plover was on the Wader Scrape, also a Wheatear was present. RW.
