At midday a Bittern was seen flying into the Deep Pit and was later heard booming. MW
This morning, during the Wildlife Walk, a Green Sandpiper was seen on the flooded field across the river. Two Sand Martins flew through over the Slurry Lagoon and five Chiffchaffs were singing. PS.
This evening three Bitterns were seen at the lagoons. Two took off from the reed beds calling and flew high and then away, possibly starting their migration back to Europe. The third was also calling but flew low and disappeared over the site. RW.
This afternoon a Tawny Owl was heard calling from the Haven, while three Chiffchaffs were seen in bushes close by. PS.
This morning the Little Ringed Plover was seen again on the Wader Scrape, along with 32 Gadwall, 2 Teal and a male Goldeneye. A Curlew flew over the site and there was a mixed flock of Pied Wagtails and Meadow Pipits on the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon. PS.
