This morning, during the Bird-count, there were several flocks, totalling around 300 Redwings seen around the site as well as about thirty Fieldfares. Redpoll, Siskin and Skylarks were also seen and heard passing overhead and there were still plenty of Chiffchaffs about. At about mid-day five female Goosander were seen flying downriver. PS.

Stonechat – 12th October
This morning a flock of thirty Lesser Redpoll were in the birches on the north side of the Slurry Lagoon and a male and a female Stonechat were foraging around the base of the new pylon. A female Small Copper was found nectaring along the Boundary Hedge. PS.
Bittern – 11th October
This morning seven Redwings were seen along the Slurry Lagoon path. A Bittern crashed into the Slurry Lagoon reed bed, five Cetti’s Warblers were singing and four Water Rail were heard. PS.
