Lesser Redpoll – 24th January
This morning there were ten Lesser Redpoll on birch trees at the railway end of the Deep Pit. On the Large Gravel Pit twelve Goldeneye were counted. PS.
Raven – 22nd January
This morning there were two Ravens on the pylons. One flew from pylon to pylon calling but the other stayed put on one pylon. The other flew back several times and, after about an hour, they left. PS.
Whooper Swan – 20th January
This morning eleven Whooper Swans flew over the Large Gravel Pit and Deep Pit. Also a Raven was heard calling and then seen flying over the site. SC.
Raven – 17th January
Early this afternoon a Raven was perched on the new pylon, calling. It then flew off, still calling. JMD.
Treecreeper – 16th January
At mid-day today a Treecreeper and a Chiffchaff were seen along the Ouse Dyke. JMD.
Bittern – 13th January
This evening a Bittern was seen flying from the Slurry Lagoon into the Deep Pit. RW.
Blackcap – 8th January
At about mid-day a male Blackcap was seen along the Ouse Dyke. A Water Rail was also seen in the Ouse Dyke. On the Slurry Lagoon a count of over 400 Teal was made and on the Large Gravel Pit were 200 Wigeon. PS.
Jack Snipe – 3rd January
The Jack Snipe was showing well on the Wader Scrape again today. Two Ravens were also seen. BB.
Jack Snipe – 2nd January
This morning, on the Wader Scrape, there was a Jack Snipe near the water’s edge and four Common Snipe in the taller vegetation. A male and a female Stonechat were also present. PS.
