This morning a female Shoveler led six newly hatched ducklings across the Slurry Lagoon, in front of the Causeway bench. There were also up to ten young Little Grebes and a well grown Great Crested Grebe chick. PS.

Hobby – 21st May
This morning, during the Warbler Walk, nine warblers were seen or heard (just Grasshopper Warbler missing). A Hobby attacked the Swallows at the Railway Bridge, but they saw it coming. The Slurry Lagoon Mute Swans now have eight cygnets and there are several Coot families and the Great Crested Grebes on the Slurry Lagoon still have their chick. Earlier on, at about 08.00hrs a Cuckoo was singing from an ash tree beside the railway line. PS.
Red Kite – 6th June
This afternoon a Red Kite called as it flew over the site. The Little Ringed Plover pairs have both got two chicks, one pair of chicks is already almost full grown. There are several tern chicks on the platforms and the Great Crested Grebes on the Slurry Lagoon have a chick. PS.
Red Kite – 2nd March
This morning at about 09.30 a Red Kite flew low across the Slurry Lagoon. There are still 57 Mute Swans on the oil-seed rape and some Great Crested Grebes have arrived and are setting up territories. Three Cetti’s Warblers were heard singing in the Haven, Deep Pit and Slurry Lagoon reed bed. PS.
