A Garden Warbler was heard singing from bushes on the Causeway this morning. The Common Tern was joined by a second bird but the two Avocets have gone. PS.

Arctic Tern – 14th April
This afternoon an Arctic Tern briefly flew over the Deep Pit and Slurry Lagoon before disappearing back where it came from. There seemed to have been no new arrivals of the warblers, with only one or two of each species locatable. A Bee Fly was seen on the Willow Walk. PS.
Also this afternoon about 4.00 p.m. a female Marsh Harrier flew through the Reserve heading South East. JMD.
Sedge Warbler – 7th April
A Sedge Warbler was found on the Slurry Lagoon this morning and a House Martin was seen over the Large Gravel Pit with 12 Swallows. RW.
In the afternoon 2 Sedge Warblers were present, as well as a Whitethroat, near the Railway Bridge, 3 Blackcaps, 6 Willow Warblers and a Little Ringed Plover. RW.
Little Ringed Plover – 5th April
A Little Ringed Plover settled briefly at the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon this morning. There were also two Cetti’s Warblers singing, three Willow Warblers, three Blackcaps, and several Chiffchaffs. Four Shelduck were on the Slurry Lagoon and several Swallows and Sand Martins were seen. Over the Severn Trent land several hundred Golden Plover were flying. PS.
Blackcap – 4th April
Two Blackcaps, three Willow warblers, nine Chiffchaffs and two Cetti’s Warblers were heard singing this morning. There were also several frogs in the Haven that could be heard croaking.
Stoats – 2nd April
Today two Stoats were seen on the site, one was chasing the other. There were also three Willow Warblers, up to ten Swallows and a Little Egret. RW.
Golden Plover – 30th March
On the Severn Trent fields is a flock of approximately 900 Golden Plover. There is also one Wheatear. On the reserve there are 5 Chiffchaff and 65 Sand Martins plus a Willow Warbler in the Haven. RW.
In the evening 7 Swallows were feeding over the Large Gravel Pit. PS.
Swallow and Willow Warbler – 29th March
This morning a Swallow and around 60 Sand Martins were seen over the Large Gravel Pit. There was also a Willow Warbler in the Haven. RW.
Little Ringed Plover – 26th March
A Little Ringed Plover was heard calling as it flew over the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon. There were six Chiffchaffs singing and a Cetti’s. PS.
Sand Martins – 23rd March
Today seven more Sand Martins were seen flying SW over the reserve and two more were feeding over the Large Gravel Pit. A Chiffchaff and a Cetti’s Warbler were heard singing and the Tawny Owl popped its head out of the box again. PS.
