Pink-barred Sallow

Description

Wingspan 30mm. A mainly yellow moth with a pinkish transverse bar.

Habitat

Woodland, marshes and heaths. The young caterpillars feed on the flowers of Sallows and Poplars and later the leaves of herbaceous plants such as Docks.

Status and distribution

Common and well distributed throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

August to September.
