Scathophaga inquinata

Description

Over all length 8 - 9mm. The thorax is grey and the abdomen is orange with dark lines between the tergites. The antennae are orange.

Habitat

Shady, damp areas along hedgerows and woodland edge.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread in Britain. Thinly recorded in Nottinghamshire and uncommon at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

March to September.
