Common Orange Legionnaire

Description
Over all length 5 - 6mm. This species has a shiny, black thorax and an orange abdomen. The male has a murky orange abdomen and smoky wings. The female has clear wings, with a dark stigma.
Habitat
Prefers damp habitats such as marshes but can be found along damp woodland edges. Found along Willow Walk on the reserve.
Status and distribution
Common and found throughout Britain. Regular on the reserve.

May to September.
