Common Groundhopper

Tetrix undulata

Over all length 8 - 11mm. Very like the Slender Groundhopper, Tetrix  subulata, except that the pronotum ends level with the tip of the abdomen and also has a prominent keel. Is also very varied in colours and markings.

Can be found on bare, damp patches that are not  overshadowed by too much vegetation. On the reserve is commonest on the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon.

Status and distribution

Its range extends over the whole of Britain. At the lagoons seems to be restricted to the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon.

Best time to see

All year, coming out in the sunshine.
