Thymelicus sylvestris
Description
Wingspan 27 - 34. The wings are orange with a subtle brown border. Very similar to Essex Skipper but the tips of the antennae graduate to brown.
Habitat
Grasslands, along roadsides, in waste-ground, hedgerows and banks. The caterpillars feed mainly on Yorkshire-fog.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in England and Wales. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June to August.
