Description

Wingspan 11mm. The wings are a metallic bronze. The antennae are flattened at the base and have long white tips. There are three other similar species.

Habitat

Grasslands, waste ground. The larvae feed on Red-clover seeds, making a pod similar to their food source to live in.

Status and distribution

Widely but thinly distributed in southern England and Wales. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

June and July.
