Agonopterix alstromeriana

Description

Wingspan 17 to 19mm. A pale buff moth with a dark patch at the forward edge of its fore-wings with a red-brown mark inside it.

Habitat

Woodland edge, hedgerows, field margins, waste ground - any where where its food plant, Hemlock, grows.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in England and Wales but not reported so often in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

August to April.
