Pearly Grass-miner

Elachista apicipuntella

Description

Wingspan 10 to 11mm. A small, brown moth with two to three pale cream bars and a whitish head.

Habitat

Grasslands. The larvae mine the leaves of various grasses, including Cock's-foot, Tufted Hair Grass and Giant Fescue.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to July.
