Pleuroptya ruralis

Description

Wingspan 26 - 40mm. This is a large micro-moth, larger than some macro-moths. When fresh this moth is beautifully marked with creamy-buff on a pale cream background.

Habitat

Often disturbed from nettle patches which is the food plant of the larvae.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread throughout most of Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July and August.
