Meadow Dwarf
Elachista triatomea
Description
Wingspan 8 to 9mm. A small white moth with two black spots on the forewing.
Habitat
Grasslands and waste ground, brown field sites. The caterpillar is a leaf-miner of fescue grasses.
Status and distribution
Mainly reported from central and southern England, although there are occasional reports from Wales and Scotland. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June and July.
