Description

Wingspan 16 to 19mm. A variable grey moth, very similar to Anacampsis populella.

Habitat

Normally found on Birch, the larval food plant. A. populella feeds on Sallow and Poplar.

Status and distribution

Fairly common in southern and eastern England, but absent from Devon and Cornwall and most of Wales. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July to September.
