Description

Wingspan 25mm. The males are fully winged, grey or dark grey with black markings. The females have half wings.

Habitat

Deciduous woodland. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of a variety of trees.

Status and distribution

Present throughout most of Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

March to May.
