Garden Grass-veneer
Chrysoteuchia culmella
Description
Wingspan about 20mm. A pale, straw coloured moth with a long 'snout'. Can be quite variable and blends with dry grass seed-heads.
Habitat
Grasslands or anywhere that a small patch of grass might be growing, the larvae feeding on the bases of the grass stems.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June to July.
