Elbow-striped Grass-veneer

Agriphila geniculea

Description

Wingspan 20 to 26mm. The ground colour is pale straw, heavily marked with a granular pattern of dark brown spots and two dark and light chevrons on each fore-wing.

Habitat

Found amongst grasses in grasslands, woodlands roadside verges. The larvae feed on grasses.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread but mainly through the middle of England and Wales and East Anglia. Fairly common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

July to October.
