Description

Wingspan 15 - 28mm. The fore-wings have a variable ground colour but have a diagnostic black circle with a white centre.

Habitat

Various wetland habitats are used as the aquatic larvae feed on water weeds.

Status and distribution

Locally common and widespread in southern Britain, especially East Anglia. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

June to August.
